In 2016 Stephanie Herrera decided that she wanted to focus on bringing more minorities into tech. Stephanie mentored a lot of people in the Austin Salesforce community, but she wasn’t seeing very many Hispanics or African Americans coming to our community events. So Stephanie made the decision, that she was going to go out and find them.
Right around this time, Selina Suarez gave her a call and asked Stephanie if she wanted to work with her to bring more minorities into tech. To Stephanie, it was a no-brainer, there is strength in numbers and Selina and Stephanie could accomplish more together than on their own. A month later Rebe de la Paz joined us and PepUp Tech was born. In the summer of 2017, Shonnah Hughes came on board, and the rest as they say, is history!
